In a project funded by
the European Commission Delegation in Belgrade and implemented by
the Generation Europe Foundation with the support of Serbia’s
Development Organization, as the local project coordinator, 100,000
copies of a special Serbian edition of the Europa Diary will
be produced and distributed to all students in the next-to-last year
of secondary schools in Serbia. The Europa Diary will be
distributed to over 500 secondary schools together with 4,000
Teachers’ Guides, for the 2009 Calendar Year.
The topics to be covered in the editorial pages of the Diary and in
the accompanying Teachers Guide are being developed especially for
Serbia and focus on facilitating a better understanding of the
European Union and the EU Integration process. As Serbia moves
toward the negotiation procedure with the EU and eventual accession,
there are many concepts and institutions that secondary school
students and their teachers need to become familiar with. Covering
topics from employment to the environment, from the concept of
citizenship to the enlargement of the European Union, the Europa
Diary helps young people prepare for their adult lives as
workers, consumers and citizens of a changing society.
The Editorial Advisory Board is comprised of representatives of
Generation Europe, European Commission Delegation in Belgrade, the
Serbian EU Integration Office, Serbia’s Ministry of Education,
Serbia’s Development Organization and other distinguished and
interested organizations. Generation Europe Foundation has been
publishing the Europa Diary since 1995. Distribution now
stands at over 2.3 million copies in 29 editions in all EU Member
States and in all EU official languages. |
